This is me & my story…
My Name is Masoud and yes some people do call me Chef Piaz. I’m not a professionally trained chef so most of the dishes I make are self-taught and through passion and interest for food and cooking. I continuously strive to advance my training and expand my knowledge on techniques, food, ingredients, and most importantly our rich Persian cuisine. I’ve made it my goal to further showcase and present our rich cuisine to the world through modern designs and presentations and to also experiment and expand with new and exciting creations.
I was born in the city of Karaj near the capital Tehran in IRAN. Though most of my family and extended family were born in Tehran we are originally Azeri Torks ( Yashasin). I’ve spent most of my life outside of Iran (now residing in Canada) but the deep interest in my culture, arts, and now food has always drawn me closer and closer.
During Covid-19 I realized my calling so I started my cooking journey and launched PiazMiaz. If you are wondering why PiazMiaz, well I highly recommend checking out the video below where I explain why. From the time I was younger, I loved cooking and experimenting with dishes without fully realizing that I was passionate and that cooking was something that truly made me happy. Well if this uncertain period has taught me something it’s that you only truly live when you are in love with your life, being around people you truly care for, doing what feeds your passion and creativity, and ultimately doing whatever it is that makes you smile from within.
